Fantastic, July 27, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Scarpa Men's Mont Blanc Goretex Mountaineering Boot (Apparel) I purchased these boots 2 weeks before climbing Mt Adams in Washington. I am 5'7" and weigh 130lbs. To break them in, I wore them for a 17 mile overnight backpacking trip in TN with highs around 97F carrying a 50lb pack (yes, almost 1/2 my body weight). The reason for the positive review is that I did not get a single blister, despite the heat and brand new boots, and my feet more dryer than my hiking buddies with their summer hiking shoes (from sweat). Found out they were 1/2 size too large during this trip, and exchanged for the correct size. I took bad advice from someone and ordered 1/2 size too large to account for thick socks. Do not do that. These boots have a slightly wider than average toe box in my opinion, which was great for me. I don't like a cramped pinky toe, especially in cold.
After receiving the correct size (a 41 for me) I climbed Adams. I reached the summit without a single blister with never-worn boots! (Yes, I know this was a bad idea) I would... Read more
Choose the correct size wisely, August 13, 2012 By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Scarpa Men's Mont Blanc Goretex Mountaineering Boot (Apparel) I puchased this model boot based upon my individual requirements. Unfortnately sizing was a major problem. The chart supplied did not take into consideration the narrow internal construction of the product. My foot was measured at 43 1/2 and based on this information I ordered a 44. During the breaking in process I found the front box construction far to constrained, causing blistering on both small toes and blackening of both the large toes. I have made arrangements for the boots to be upgraded to a size 45.
If you intend to purchase this model scarpa boot get them fitted prior to purchase as the boot size will differ to what you would normally wear.
Other than this initial problem, the boot has fantastic support for both lower foot and upper ankle. The vibram sole grips in all conditions with no mositure ingression what so ever internally. They are a very robust product justifying the life time warranty provided.
